This is a picture of Clark and one of his art-o-mats.
A few years ago I contacted Clark after seeing a news special on art-o-mats and I became the very lucky momma-hen to the first art-o-mat ever in Indiana! Yahoooooo!
The concept is as brilliant as it is simple: Clark heads up a group of artists called 'Artists In Cellophane' who all make the original artwork that is showcased and sold in art-o-mat vending machines around the world. Each piece of art in the machine is precisely measured to be the size of a pack of cigarettes and then carefully wrapped in cellophane as to not get stuck in the gears of the old machines. Clark refurbishes old cigarette machines and turns them into works or art themselves and places them in art epicenters so that they might be a beacon of originality in an otherwise perpetuatingly pre-processed world. (that word-iness was all my own, not that of Clark OR AIC)
I love hosting a machine and I love even more the progress that AIC and art-o-mats, in general, are making in the world! Happy 10th Anniversary to Clark and art-o-mats everywhere!!! Find the art-o-mat nearest you and buy a token (only $5) and have a grab at some original artwork!
